MEADVILLE, Pa. -- Allegheny College and first-year head football coach Braden Layer are pleased to announce the Gators' schedule for the upcoming 2023 campaign.
Layer's maiden voyage as head coach at Allegheny features 10 games and an even split with five home contests at Frank B. Fuhrer Field at the Robertson Athletic Complex and five on the road. It also marks Allegheny's second season in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) after returning to the PAC last fall.
With 11 football-playing members in the PAC, each institution will now play a schedule composed exclusively of conference games.

The Gators start the fall with an opportunity to extend their five-game win streak against Waynesburg University in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, September 2. Last September saw the two sides rekindle a rivalry that had been dormant since 1929, as the Gators earned a 31-15 victory over the Yellow Jackets.
The 2023 home opener is Saturday, September 9, when Allegheny welcomes Geneva College to Meadville for a 1:00 p.m. kickoff.
After traveling to Saint Vincent College on September 16, the Gators return to Fuhrer Field for their only homestand of the season, which features back-to-back home contests against Bethany College (9/23) and the defending PAC champions from Carnegie Mellon University (9/30). Allegheny's only night game is against CMU, as the Gators and Tartans will meet under the lights at 7:00 p.m.
October includes tough road bouts at Washington and Jefferson College (10/7) and Westminster College (10/21), with alternating home games on Saturday, October 14, against Grove City College and Saturday, October 28, against Thiel College. One of the longest-running rivalries in Allegheny football history, the series against the Tomcats dates back to 1893. The next meeting will be the 83rd all-time between the two programs.
Case Western Reserve University hosts Allegheny in the 2023 regular-season finale in Cleveland, Ohio, on Saturday, November 4.
