Men's Basketball to Host Saint Vincent in PAC Quarterfinals Tuesday

MEADVILLE, Pa. -- For the first time in 13 years, the Allegheny College men's basketball team is prepared to host a home playoff game inside the James H. Mullen, Jr. Arena at the David V. Wise Center.

As the No. 2 seed in the 2022-23 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship Tournament, the Gators have secured home-court advantage through the first two rounds. That means Allegheny will welcome seventh-seeded Saint Vincent College to Meadville on Tuesday, February 21, at 7:00 p.m. in the quarterfinals.

There will be no charge for admission on Tuesday night. As always, streaming video and live stats are available for fans who cannot attend the quarterfinal matchup.

Allegheny's return to the PAC resulted in one of the best seasons in recent memory. At 17-8 (15-5 PAC), the Gators ended the regular season with the most wins since 1998-99, when the Blue & Gold went 19-9 and earned a berth into the NCAA Tournament as the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) runner-up. Allegheny is guaranteed a winning season, only the third since that NCAA Tournament appearance.

The centerpiece of Allegheny's hardwood renaissance has been senior forward Caden Hinckley (Boise, Idaho/Mt. Lebanon). The five-time PAC Player of the Week has climbed the all-time charts in a remarkable season and currently ranks first all-time in blocks, second in rebounds, and is one of only 16 players in program history to surpass 1,200 career points.

Saint Vincent will make its second trip to the Wise Center this month. The Bearcats (15-10, 11-9 PAC) split their two-game series with the Gators, which included a 79-69 win on February 4. Since then, however, Saint Vincent dropped two of its last three games. A PAC Newcomer of the Year candidate, Jadan Gales, has started all 25 games and leads all Bearcats with 17.2 points per game.

The winner of Tuesday's contest advances to the PAC semifinals and will face the winner of the Geneva College-Thiel College game on Thursday, February 23. The PAC championship game will be held on Saturday, February 25, and hosted by the highest remaining seed.
