GENEVA, Ohio -- Mihaela Toader (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) continued her record-breaking senior campaign for the Allegheny College women's track and field team at the 2023 SPIRE Indoor Collegiate Games, hosted by the SPIRE Institute on Saturday in Geneva, Ohio.
Two weeks after setting a new Allegheny indoor record in the 200-meter dash, Toader bested her own time in the 200 while collecting another record in the 400-meter dash.
Toader placed eighth in the 200 with a time of 25.66 seconds, which was .24 seconds quicker than her performance at the Youngstown State University's Mid-Major Invitational on January 28. She was third in the 400 after crossing the finish line in 57.73 seconds, a time that ranks among the top 25 in all of Division III so far this indoor season.
Leuca Hanish (Baden, Pa./Ambridge) also logged a top-10 finish as the senior ran her first collegiate 5,000-meter race. She was ninth overall and the second-best Division III athlete in the event with a time of 18:53.07.
Hailey Stupay (Shaker Heights, Ohio/Shaker Heights), the next D-III runner in the 5K, was less than a minute behind Hanish in 14th (19:46.84).
Allegheny also received PRs from distance runners
Celia Cocca (East Aurora, N.Y./East Aurora), who was 22nd in the one mile in 5:23.03, and
Megan Aaron (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley), who was 21st in the 3,000-meter run in 10:37.60.
