ECAC Release

DANBURY, Conn. -- Allegheny College's Jacy Diaz (Barranquitas, Puerto Rico/Gallatin (Tenn.)) collected another postseason award following an incredible sophomore year, as the second-year libero was named to the All-Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Second Team.

The All-ECAC accolade is the latest in a series of awards Diaz has won this season. The Puerto Rican native was crowned the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Defensive Player of the Year and an All-PAC First Teamer. Additionally, she collected All-Tournament Team honors from both the PAC and ECAC.

Diaz led the Gators to their winningest season since 2000, as Allegheny posted a 24-9 overall record and captured the 2023 ECAC Division III Championship. Nationally, she ranks sixth in total digs (660), eighth in aces (81), 19th in digs per set (5.74), and 32nd in aces per set (.70). With her proficiency on defense and at the service line, Allegheny finished 2023 ranked 28th out of 421 Division III programs in total aces, 39th in digs, and 57th in opponent hitting percentage.

In the first round of the PAC Tournament, a four-set win over Grove City College, Diaz logged a career-high 38 digs. She tied her second-highest single-match total in the ECAC championship match against William Paterson University with 29 digs. Diaz also set a program record for the most aces in a three-set match with nine against Grove City on October 6.

Diaz was the only PAC student-athlete named to the All-ECAC Division III Teams for volleyball.
