PAC Release

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- Allegheny College's Jayson Perry (Tampa, Fla./Sickles) garnered weekly laurels from the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) on Monday afternoon, as the first-year guard was crowned the PAC Newcomer of the Week.

Perry averaged 6.5 points per game while shooting a team-high 71.4% (5-of-7) from the field and 60.0% (3-of-5) from 3-point range. After scoring three points at Westminster College on Wednesday, the Florida native produced recorded career highs in minutes played (25), points (10), field goals (4), and 3-pointers (2) to help the Gators secure a  61-54 comeback win over Waynesburg University on Saturday.

Thanks to a hot start, Perry poured in 10 of Allegheny's first 17 points in the first half. In the second half, his defense was key, as he logged a steal early in the period and a critical block inside the last seven minutes. His rejection kickstarted a five-minute stretch during which the Gators held the Yellow Jackets scoreless en route to the come-from-behind win.

Through the first 10 games of the season, Perry averages 4.4 points, 1.0 rebounds, and 1.0 steals per game. 

Next on the docket for the Allegheny men's basketball team is a non-conference home matchup against Penn State Shenango on Wednesday, December 20, at noon.
