PAC Release
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- After reaching the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) playoffs for the second year in a row, the Allegheny College men's soccer team placed three on the 2023 All-PAC Teams.
Brady Napoleon (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) was included on the All-PAC First Team for the second time in as many years. He was joined by All-PAC Honorable Mention selections
Will Gruca (Baden, Pa./Ambridge) and
Matthew Taliani (Cheswick, Pa./Springdale).
Nominated as a forward, Napoleon also spent time on the pitch as a back and midfielder. Regardless of where he lined up, the 6-foot-3 junior produced. Napoleon paced all Gators and was sixth in the conference with a career-high 17 points. His team-leading seven goals were tied for fourth-most in the PAC. Allegheny was 6-1-0 when Napoleon had a point. He scored the game-winner in a 2-1 victory over Westminster College on September 23, and he ended the regular season with a hat trick and seven points (3g-1a) in a 5-3 win at Thiel College on October 24.
Gruca was one of several dynamic freshmen to suit up for the Blue and Gold in 2023. The first-year midfielder appeared in all 17 games with 15 starts. He was tied for third on the team and the most among freshmen with six points (2g-2a), all of which came against PAC opponents. His first collegiate goal was a penalty kick in a 3-1 victory over Washington and Jefferson College on September 30, and he turned in a season-best three points (1g-1a) in the 5-3 win over the Tomcats.
Taliani repeated as an All-PAC Honorable Mention defenseman. The senior back was the only Gator to start all 17 contests in 2023, extending his streak of starts to 34 consecutive games. With Taliani on the back line, Allegheny posted its lowest goals-against average since 2019 and the most shutouts since 2018. Taliani was also included on the PAC Championship All-Tournament Team.
In addition to Allegheny's three All-PAC selections, junior center back
Graham Kralic (Beaver Falls, Pa./Riverside) was named to the PAC Sportsmanship Team. The PAC Sportsmanship Teams were established to recognize student-athletes who have distinguished themselves through demonstrated acts of sportsmanship and ethical behavior, and are an ongoing effort to recognize and encourage positive sportsmanship among all PAC teams and student-athletes. Kralic started 15 of 16 appearances and logged over 1,300 minutes as a key piece on the back line.
