Men’s Soccer Falls in PAC Semifinals to Franciscan

STEUBENVILLE, Ohio – The third-seed Allegheny men's soccer team fell in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Semifinals at second-seed Franciscan, 5-2, Wednesday (Nov. 5).

The teams went back-and-forth in the opening 20 minutes of the contest. The Barons then scored the game's first goal on a close ranged shot following a cross from the far side in the 25th minute. They added a second tally just five minutes later, once again on a shot from inside the goal box.

The Gators nearly got on the board in the 42nd minute, but a header by Nick Magee (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) hit the post.

Just before halftime, Allegheny cut the deficit in half. After a corner kick got cleared, Colin Hill (Volant, Pa./Wilmington) sent the ball back into the box from just inside midfield. The service went towards the far side of the box where Lucas Henderson (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) headed the ball across to the near post for the Gator goal. The goal marked Henderson's first of his collegiate career.

Franciscan made it a two goal game once again 10 minutes into the second half, scoring on a loose ball in the box following a corner kick. The Barons extended their lead to three goals as they scored again in the 75th minute.

Allegheny made up a goal less than a minute later. Renen Frank (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman) dribbled the ball through traffic and passed it along to Ben Keefer (Zelienople, Pa./Seneca Valley) just outside the top of the goal box. Keefer shot the ball just under the crossbar as the Gators cut the lead back down to two. The goal was Keefer's first of the year.

The Gators had some chances late but Franciscan scored a late goal in the 88th minute as the Gators season ended in the conference semifinals.
