Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Gators Advance to PAC Semifinals With Dramatic Win Against W&J

MEADVILLE, Pa. – The third-seeded Allegheny men's soccer team and sixth-seeded Washington and Jefferson went into a second overtime session before Cole Bowser (Forest Hill, Md./John Carroll) scored the game winning goal as the Gators defeated the Presidents in the opening round of the 2025 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship Tournament Saturday (Nov. 1).

The teams went back-and-forth over the opening 10 minutes of the contest. In the 13th minute, the Presidents created a turnover deep in the Gator end on a clearance attempt and scored on a shot from just inside the goal box.

Will Gruca (Baden, Pa./Ambridge) nearly tied the game in the 16th minute, but his shot hit off the crossbar. Aidan Dyga (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) also had a chance in the 22nd minute but his shot from the top of the box went just inches wide.

Midway through the second half, Cadan Bennett (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) made a pair of quick saves on close shots to keep the deficit at one.

The Gators found the equalizer in the 73rd minute. Gruca led Dyga past a W&J defender into the box. Dyga, on the near side, got a quick foot on the ball as his low shot was tucked inside the far post as Allegheny tied the game. The goal marked Dyga's sixth of the season.

In the first overtime session, Renen Frank (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman) had a key opportunity late in the frame, but his shot was turned away at the last second. Lucas Henderson (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) also had a good shot that was saved as the game went into a second 10 minute overtime.

The Gators did not need much time into the second overtime frame to score the game winner. Miguel Narbona (Raleigh, N.C./Broughton) started the scoring sequence on the near sideline. He crossed the ball in front of the net to Henderson who quickly headed it to a crashing Bowser. Bowser redirected the pass straight into the back of the net as the Gators scored the golden goal, advancing them in the tournament.
