Box Score MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The Allegheny College women's tennis, the No. 1 team in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) preseason poll, began the 2022-23 season by hosting the Allegheny Invitational at the Robertson Tennis Complex on Saturday.
Although Sunday's matches, including the doubles portion of the event, were canceled due to inclement weather, 11 Gators were able to play a singles match. In those 11 matches, Allegheny posted a superb 9-2 overall record.
Jean-Arlette Legrand (San Juan, Puerto Rice/Commonweath Parkville School),
Ella Swan (Nashville, Tenn./Hume-Fogg Academic),
Sabrina Rodriguez (Kissimmee, Fla./Professional and Technical), and
Taylor Hayes (Geneva, Ill./Geneva Community) each earned wins over Division II opponents. Legrand and Swan both took down their opponents from Edinboro University in straight sets. Hayes swept Mackenzie Schayes from Daemen University (6-1, 6-3), but Rodriguez needed a tiebreak set to take down Daemen's Carly Armitage.
