MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The Allegheny College women's golf team withstood heavy rainfall and less-than-ideal conditions at the Country Club of Meadville on Sunday and Monday, but were able to complete all 36 holes in the 49th edition of the Guy and Jeanne Kuhn Memorial.
On the team leaderboard, the Gators placed fifth out of 10 with a two-day score of 679 (+111). Allegheny was 16 strokes behind the fourth-place finisher and fellow Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) member, Westminster College, who scored a 663 (+95). With the individual medalist and runner-up, the Tartans from the Carnegie Mellon University's "B" squad won the tournament with a 618 (+50).
Kelsi Zik (Murrysville, Pa./Plum) was Allegheny's best finisher in a three-way tie for 23rd. Zik shaved one stroke off of her score in the second round with a 13-over 84 and carded a two-day total of 169 (+27). Within two shots of Zik were
Jenny Beth Brundige (South Fulton, Tenn./South Fulton) and
Elisa Gomez (La Mirada, Calif./St. Joseph). Brundige moved up one spot in the final round to tie for 26th with a 36-hole score of 170 (+28). She was just one stroke ahead of Gomez, who tied for 28th place with a 171 (+29).
Camille O'Halloran (Northfield, N.J./Mainland Regional), the defending PAC Player of the Week, began the tournament just three strokes out of the lead with a 77 (+6) on Sunday. She led all Gators with three birdies despite playing only one round, as she withdrew on Monday due to injury.
