Box Score ST. LOUIS -- The Allegheny College men's tennis duo of Anton Hedlund (Hovas, Sweden / Katrinelundsgymnasiet) and Ethan Carr (King of Prussia, Pa./Harriton) performed well together at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division III Men's Central Regional Championship, hosted by Washington University in St. Louis from September 23-25. 

Despite falling in their first match in the main draw to Case Western Reserve University's Chris Provenzano and Sahil Dayal, who played in the 2021-22 NCAA Division III Championships for CWRU last spring, the Gator tandem battled back to win the East Region consolation bracket. Hedlund and Carr began the back draw by defeating Hope College's Matt Henkel and Tyler Stafford, 8-3, before rolling past Brett Gurzell and Malcolm Drake from Albion College, 8-2.

In the consolation quarterfinals, Hedlund and Carr dispatched Augusto Ghidini and Tharakesh Ashokar of Wabash College in a tight match, 8-5. In the semis, they beat another Wabash team in Cole Shifferly and Liam Grennon by the same score. Set to face Provenzano and Dayal again in the finals, the Allegheny team won the event via a walkover.

Both Hedlund and Carr won their first bout in the main singles draw. Seeded 10th in singles competition, Hedlund earned victories over Ryan McCoy of Illinois Wesleyan University (6-2, 6-1) and Cole Goodman from Trine University (6-1, 6-4). In the round of 16, the second-year netter fell to CWRU's third-seeded Vishwa Aduru.

Carr defeated  Elijah Schilthuis from Trine in the opening round (6-1, 6-2), but bowed out in the next round to another fifth-seeded Case Western Reserve Spartan.
