Box Score COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Allegheny College women's tennis team improved to 4-0 in the young 2022-23 season by taking down Capital University, 7-2, in a non-conference match hosted at the Whetstone Park of Roses.
Although the Comets (2-2) opened the match with wins at first and third doubles, the Gators (4-0) were relentless in singles action. Allegheny won every singles match, including a 10-point tiebreak at second singles, to overcome the early deficit and secure the victory.
Katherine Marks (Argyle, Texas/Liberty Christian) played a tight 7-5 first set against Captial's Anna Fletcher, but secured the two-set sweep with an unblemished 6-0 second set. In the No. 2 position,
Ella Swan (Nashville, Tenn./Hume-Fogg Academic) overcame a first-set loss to force a tiebreaker, which was won by the senior from Nashville, Tennessee, by a 10-6 score.
Between third, fourth, fifth, and sixth singles, the Gators only dropped a combined four games. In her first dual-match appearance of the year,
Noelle Kidd (Broadview Heights, Ohio/North Royalton) cleaned up with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep at sixth singles.
