OHIO – The Allegheny track and field teams competed at a pair of events in Ohio this weekend.
 
The teams competed at the 52nd Sparky Adams Invitational, hosted by Baldwin Wallace, while a pair of Gators competed at the Jesse Owens Classic, hosted by Ohio State.
 
Hope Gomez (Laveen, Ariz./Valley Christian) competed in the javelin at the Jesse Owens Classic. Her best toss of 32.69 meters helped her finish in third in an event with several Division I talents.
 
Molly Tarvin (New Tripoli, Pa./Northwestern Lehigh) had the best individual performance for the Gators at Baldwin Wallace. She placed second in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 19:17.15. Tara Chillingworth (Wilmington, Del./Mount Pleasant) finished third in the 10,000 meter run with a time of 43:03.94. Marrin Crist (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg Area) also had a third-place finish in the steeplechase with a time of 12:56.80.
 
Logan Meyer (Mount Vernon, Ohio/Mount Vernon) raced in the 1,500 meter run at the Jesse Owens Classic, taking 17th with a time of 3:56.87. 
 
Mac Polny (Robinson, Pa./Montour) was the runner-up in the steeplechase at Baldwin Wallace, finishing with a time of 10:50.62. Sean Heintzleman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Winchester Thurston) earned a runner-up finish in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 15:50.60.
 
Tylir Shannon (Transfer, Pa./Reynolds) also earned a runner-up finish, taking second in the 100 meter dash at 10.98 seconds. Shannon also placed third in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.17.
 
The Gators are back in action next weekend when they compete at the Denison Big Red Invitational.
