GRANVILLE, Ohio– The Allegheny swimming & diving teams concluded competition at the 2022 North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Championships.
The men's and women's teams each finished in seventh. The women tallied 616 points while the men earned a total of 589.5 points.
Men
Daniel Logue (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel) finished 24th in the 1650 freestyle with a time of 19:22.95 to start the day.
Dalton Lodzins (Anchorage, Alaska/Chugiak) qualified for the A-Finals in the 100 IM. In the finals, Lodzins touched the wall at 54.31 to finish eighth.
Gavin Stuckey (Dillsburg, Pa./Northern) swam in the finals of the 200 backstroke, placing 13th with a time of 2:01.56.
Emmett Manning (Holmdel, N.J./Holmdel),
Jack Malnar (Brecksville, Ohio/Brecksville-Broadview Heights) and
Jacob Anderson (Jamestown, N.Y./Jamestown) qualified for the finals in the 100 freestyle. Manning took 14th with a time of 48.02. Malnar placed 20th with a time of 48.38 while Anderson was just behind in 21st with a time of 49.50.
Daniel Jackson (Warwick, N.Y./Warwick Valley) also qualified for an A-Final in the 200 breaststroke, finishing ninth with a time of 2:08.16.
Pierre Jaeggi (Fountain Valley, Calif./Valiant Prep) and
Joe McNutt (Holly Springs, N.C./Holly Springs) participated in the finals of the 200 butterfly. Jaeggi finished the race in 14th with a time of 1:57.87 while McNutt finished 21st with a time of 2:07.25.
The 400 freestyle relay team of Lodzins, Jaeggi, Jackson and Manning closed out the championships by placing fourth with a time of 3:08.76.
Women
Katya Pryshchenko (Berwyn, Pa./Aim Academy), Olivia Ave (Columbus, Ohio/Whetstone), Emily Spitz (Jamestown, N.Y./Jamestown) and Leah Frase (Madison, Ohio/Madison) swam in the 1650 freestyle. Pryshchenko finished 11th (19:02.36), Ave finished 16th (20:20.19), Spitz finished 17th (20:26.25) and Frase finished 21st (21:25.61).
Emily Tekelenburg (Zelienople, Pa./Seneca Valley) and Maggie Bilquin (Niagara Falls, N.Y./Niagara Falls) swam in the 100 IM finals. Tekelenburg finished 15th with a time of 1:05.50 while Bilquin took 20th with a time of 1:06.71.
Ariana Clark (Freeport, Pa./Freeport), Jenna Halenda (Mars, Pa./Mars) and Megan Munzek (Apollo, Pa./Kiski Area) represented the Gators in the 200 backstroke finals. Clark finished 13th, clocking in at 2:13.76 while Halenda was just behind in 14th with a time of 2:15.29. Munzek took 21st with a time of 2:20.48.
Olivia Kraus (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) qualified for the A-Finals of the 100 freestyle. In the finals, Kraus touched the wall at 51.94 to take seventh. That time broke the previous Allegheny record of 52.13 set in 1990 by Cynthia Kangos. It is the second record for Kraus at the event after breaking the 50 freestyle record Friday.
Sadie Brown (Portland, Ore./Pacific Crest Community) and Julie Hoffman (St. Mary's, Pa./Elk County Catholic) also swam in the finals. Brown placed 14th with a time of 53.34 while Hoffman placed 23rd with a time of 56.28.
Maggie Baham (Glen Allen, Va./Glen Allen) qualified for the 200 butterfly finals, winning the B-Finals with a time of 2:17.56, placing 10th overall.
The 400 freestyle relay team of Baham, Brown, Halenda and Kraus concluded the championships by placing fifth with a time of 3:39.17.
