OBERLIN, Ohio -- The Allegheny College men's swimming and diving team concluded the three-day Oberlin College Midseason Invite on Saturday afternoon with a seventh-place performance out of a dozen teams in attendance.
The Gators, who won three events throughout the multi-day competition, finished with 652 points in the team standings. Alfred State proved to be the strongest team at the invitational with 1,314.5 points.
All three Allegheny wins featured second-year standout
Daniel Jackson (Warwick, N.Y./Warwick Valley). In the 400-yard individual medley, Jackson finished in 4:08.82 and maintained a lead of nearly eight seconds over the runner-up, Miguel Siwady of Oberlin. His victory in the 200-yard breaststroke was much closer, as Jackson edged Salem's Fernando Gomez by 87-hundredths of a second with a time of 2:07.06.
Jackson helped the 800-yard freestyle relay quartet capture the win.
Jack Malnar (Brecksville, Ohio/Brecksville-Broadview Heights),
Emmet Fluharty (Cleveland, Ohio/Cleveland Heights), and
Pierre Jaeggi (Fountain Valley, Calif./Valiant Prep) completed the foursome in the 800 freestyle and were clocked at 7:05.39.
