NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – Emma Chambers (Stoutsville, Ohio/AManda Clearcreek) and
India McCruter (Columbus, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson) of the Allegheny volleyball team were named the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, for their performances in a trio of shutout victories last week.
Chambers earned Offensive Player of the Week honors by hitting .345 while tallying 25 kills in wins over Westminster, Thiel and Waynesburg. Against Thiel, Chambers had nine kills while hitting .600. She also had nine kills against Waynesburg in addition to seven more against Westminster. In addition to her offensive stats, Chambers collected five blocks and five digs. For the season, Chambers has 86 kills and 25 blocks.
McCruter earned Defensive Player of the Week honors by tallying 16 blocks in three games. In the victory against Waynesburg, McCruter tallied a season-high nine blocks, which was the most in a three-set match in the PAC this year. She also had five blocks against Westminster. In addition to the defensive stats. McCruter had 17 kills last week. For the season, McCruter has tallied a team-high 60 blocks, which ranks third in the PAC, and 118 kills.
The Gators (11-8, 1-0 PAC) are back in action Wednesday (Oct. 5) when they travel to Washington and Jefferson College for a 7:00 p.m. PAC match.
