GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Grove City College, winners of four consecutive Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) championships, defeated the Allegheny College men's swimming and diving team on Saturday by a score of 193-61.
Pierre Jaeggi (Fountain Valley, Calif./Valiant Prep) earned the only win of the afternoon for the Gators (1-1) in the 200-yard butterfly. The fourth-year swimmer from California placed first with a time of 2:04.34 and beat the runner-up from Grove City (1-0), Logan Myers, by 1.21 seconds.
Jaeggi was also part of both second-place relay teams with
Daniel Jackson (Warwick, N.Y./Warwick Valley),
Dalton Lodzins (Anchorage, Alaska/Chugiak), and
Emmett Manning (Holmdel, N.J./Holmdel). Allegheny's quartet posted a time of 1:39.27 in the 200-yard medley relay and 1:29.85 in the freestyle.
In one of the closest events of the day, Manning came up fractions of a second short in the 50-yard freestyle against Mac Hancock. Hancock (21.34) touched the wall 53-hundredths of a second before the Allegheny junior, who was clocked at 21.87 seconds.
