CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Allegheny track & field programs kicked off the 2021-22 indoor campaign at the eighth annual Case Western Reserve Spartan Holiday Classic on Saturday (Dec. 4).
 
Tylir Shannon (Transfer, Pa./Reynolds) led the Gator men, capturing first in a pair of events. He won the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.12 seconds and the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.93 seconds. A trio of Gator men also had runner-up finishes. Adam Cook (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel) took second in the 3000-meter run with a time of 9:27.40, Jacob King (Latrobe, Pa./Greater Latrobe) took second in the shot put with a heave of 12.82 meters while Dietrich Williams (Greenville, Pa./Reynolds) placed second in the high jump, clearing a height of 1.90 meters.
 
On the women's side, Eva Martino (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional) and Mihaela Toader (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) won events. Martino captured first in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.29 seconds, while Toader won the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.55 seconds.  Emma Miller (Elyria, Ohio/Lake Ridge Academy) had a second-place finish in the shot put with a toss of 11.77 meters.
 
With the semester break approaching, Allegheny will be idle until competing at the Wooster Invite on Saturday, Jan. 22.
