TEMPE, Ariz.—The Allegheny College women's tennis team received the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Regional Community Service Award for their volunteer work in the local community during the 2018-19 season, announced by the organization Wednesday (May 15). 
 
The team earned the honor for the Central Region, one of four in the country.  They are now eligible for the National Community Service Award, which is announced May 20.  The other regional winners included Emory and Henry College from the Atlantic-South Region, Vassar College from the Northeast Region and Pacific Lutheran University from the West Region.
 
For the year, the team volunteered for 128 hours.  Their volunteer hours included Make a Difference Day, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Special Olympics, tutoring and helping at a soup kitchen, among other endeavors.
