Box Score HILTON HEAD, S.C.—The Allegheny College women's lacrosse team fell in action to Hope College 12-4 Wednesday (March 20) as part of their spring break trip in Hilton Head, S.C.
The Gators got on the scoreboard first. Less than eight minutes in,
Evi Malagise found
Devin Gaffney for the opening goal. The 1-0 lead stood until under 10 minutes to play in the opening half. A quick pair of goals put the Flying Dutch in front 2-1. Just over a minute after Hope's second goal, Malagise struck on a free-position shot to tie the game. However, Hope added a goal late in the half to take a 3-2 lead into halftime.
Hope scored the opening four goals of the second half to push the lead to 7-2.
Brenna Lawler halted the Hope run as she scored on a free-position shot to make it 7-3. The Flying Dutch added two goals before the Gators found the back of the net again. Gaffney scored her second goal, this time assisted by
Taylor Vigneri. Hope added three goals late in the game for the 12-4 win.
Gaffney had two goals while Lawler and Malagise provided the other two. Malagise and VIgneri assisted on the non-free-position goals.
Laurence Busque collected five groundballs while
Rachel Donlan had four.
Steph Shakespeare made 12 saves in net for the Gators.
The Gators make their home debut next Wednesday (March 27) when they host John Carroll University.
