Box Score SPRINGFIELD, Ohio—The Allegheny College men's tennis continued North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) play at Wittenberg University Saturday (April 7).
The Gators picked up the conference win 6-3.
At third doubles,
Mackenzie Knowlton and
Jacob Stringer opened the match with an 8-2 win over Stefan Thornberry and Austin Grote. After the Tigers won at first doubles 8-4, the Gators picked up a tough win at second doubles.
Mike Siegel and
Colton Johnson Taylor found themselves at 7-7 against Caleb Astwood and Evan Dinopoulos. In the tiebreaker, the Gator duo sealed the win with a 7-4 win.
Cooper Miller had the first decision in singles as he defeated Thornberry 6-1, 6-1 at fourth singles. The Tigers won the third singles contest to cut the Allegheny mat h lead to 3-2.
Johnson Taylor put the Gators within one win of the match. At second singles, he faced Astwood. Johnson Taylor won the first set 6-2 before falling 6-3 in the second set. In the superbreaker, Johnson Taylor won with a convincing 10-4 score.
After the Tigers won at first singles, the Gators wrapped up the win at fifth singles.
Mackenzie Knowlton faced Dinopoulos. After winning the first set 6-2, he concluded the match with a 6-1 set win.
Stringer finished the match with a 6-4, 6-2 win at sixth singles over Nathan Baulch.
The Gators are back in action Sunday (April 8) at Ohio Wesleyan University.
