Matt Svetz of the Allegheny College cross country team competed at the 2018 NCAA Division-III Championships in Oshkosh, Wisc. Saturday (Nov. 17).
Running as an individual, Svetz finished the 280-runner race with in 80
th-place.
Svetz ran the 8k course in a time of 25.28.7. He finished with an average kilometer time of 3:11.1. He came into the 3k split with a time of 9.20, and 5k with a time of 15:40.
For his career, Svetz was a two-time national qualifier. He also earned Great Lakes All-Region, as well as First Team All-NCAC honors as both a junior and senior, with Second Team All-NCAC honors as a sophomore. In seven races this season, he had five finishes in the top-ten, highlighted by a fifth-place finish at the Great Lakes Regional race which qualified him for the Division-III Championships.
Dhruvil Patel of North Central University won the individual title with a time of 24:24.5. He led a group of four North Central runners scoring in the top-ten as they won the team title with a score of 43.
