MEADVILLE, Pa.—The Allegheny College women's basketball team topped Pitt-Titusville 101-68 in an exhibition game in Meadville Wednesday (Nov. 15).
The Gators got off to a fast start, taking a 25-15 lead in the opening quarter, shooting 45.5% from the floor. In the second quarter, the Gators shot even better from the floor at 58.3%, tallying 30 points as they took a 55-34 lead at the half.
In the third quarter, the Gators put up 29 points, shooting 44% from the field. The Panthers outscored the Gators 18-17 in the fourth but the Gators shot 58.3% from the floor.
Kiersten Librizzi led the Gators with a double-double, going for 17 points and 11 rebounds to go with six assists.
Brooke Smith,
Candaisy Crawford and
Haley Seifert had 16 points each. Crawford and Smith had six rebounds each while Seifert had five. Smith also contributed seven assists, tying for the team-high.
Maia Joiner scored 12 points with four rebounds, two assists and a pair of blocks.
Mari Casale and
Julianna Skowron had eight points each.
Rylee Donovan assisted on seven baskets.
Shannon Relihan had nine rebounds to go alongside six points.
For the game, the Gators shot 50.6% (42-of-83), including 38.9% (seven-of-18) from three. They outrebounded the Panthers 62-34, with 23 of those rebounds coming on the offensive glass.
The Gators kick off the regular season Friday (Nov. 17), playing host to Penn State-Behrend at the Greg Richards '08 Memorial Classic.
