The Gators roared past the Lions in doubles, winning all three matches. The third doubles pairing of senior
Daniel Conroy and junior
Samarth Gopal were first off the court with an 8-0 victory in their first match as a duo.
Allegheny's first doubles team of juniors
Thomas Manning and
Tyler Triolo were next off the court with an identical, 8-0 score. Seniors
Alexander Hurtuk and
Sam Stephenson completed the sweep with an 8-2 victory at second-flight doubles.
In singles play, Gopal continued the team's momentum, as the junior was the first singles victor off the court, winning his sixth-flight singles match by a score of 6-0, 6-0. Triolo scored the Gators' next singles win, picking up his first win of the season at top-flight with a 6-0, 6-3 decision.
Manning won at second-flight singles with a duplicate score of 6-0, 6-3. Seniors Conroy, Hurtuk, and Stephenson all won their matches with deciding scores, as none of the Gators dropped more than 2 games during singles.
Allegheny continues their spring training trip tomorrow when they take on the Eagles of Edgewood College at 8:00 a.m. at Van der Meer Tennis Center.
