CLEVELAND, Ohio
– Junior Daniel Conroy and sophomore Thomas Manning finished with a 2-0 mark in doubles play to push the Allegheny men's tennis squad to a two-match split against Wabash and Case Western Reserve on Saturday afternoon.  The Gators would upend the Little Giants, 8-1, before dropping a similar decision to the Spartans to close their Saturday schedule.

Against Wabash, the Gators picked up an early, 3-0 advantage with a sweep of doubles play.  The top-flight pairing of senior Patrick Cole and sophomore Tyler Triolo won their match, 8-5, while Conroy and Manning won at No. 2 doubles, 8-6. Juniors Sam Stephenson and Alexander Hurtuk completed the sweep with an 8-3 win in third-flight doubles.

In singles play, Cole picked up a 6-3, 6-2 win at top-flight singles, Manning won No. 3 singles, 6-3, 6-3 while Hurtuk picked up a 6-2, 6-2 decision at fourth-flight.  A 6-4, 6-2 win by Conroy and a 6-1, 6-4 victory for senior Charlie Murphy closed out the wins for the Gators.

Against the Spartans, fresh off of their appearance and upset of North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) member Kenyon at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) DIII National Team Indoor Championships last weekend, the Gators found themselves ahead in all three doubles contests before Case struck back.  The No. 2 doubles team of Conroy and Manning won, 8-6, for their second win of the afternoon but the Spartans took a 2-1 lead after doubles.

Cole suffered a 6-1, 6-7 (10-4) setback to Christopher Krimbill, ranked No. 44 by the ITA, as Case swept the singles slate to clinch the victory.  Triolo dropped a 6-4, 6-4 decision to Will Drougas in second-flight singles, the No. 48-ranked player according to the ITA.

The Gators will next play in Hilton Head, S.C. for the team's annual spring break trip, as the men will start their schedule with a 10 a.m. match against Macalester.
