Winning Streak Snapped by No. 13 Case Western Reserve

Results

MEADVILLE, Pa.
– The Allegheny men's tennis team had their 10-0 start to the season ended by nationally-ranked No. 13 Case Western Reserve on Friday afternoon.  The Spartans picked up a 6-0, rain-shortened win over the Gators at the Robertson Tennis Complex.

The No. 3 doubles team of sophomore Daniel Conroy and freshman Tyler Triolo came back from an early deficit and had the opportunity to clinch the match, but the Spartans came storming back to take a 9-8 decision.  Case would sweep the doubles matches, as the top-flight pair of junior Patrick Cole, ranked No. 18 in the most recent Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division III Central Region poll, and third year Frank Mosconi dropped an 8-3 decision.

The Spartans swept the three singles matches to complete the weather-shortened sweep.  Junior Charlie Murphy won his first set, 6-5, in No. 4 singles before his match was called due to rain.

The Gators will travel to Wooster, Ohio on Saturday, Apr. 12 for a North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) matchup against the College of Wooster Fighting Scots before returning home on Sunday for the final game at the Robertson Tennis Complex this season against Penn State Behrend.
