Taylor Samuel racked up a team-high 11 kills while hitting a .269 clip, but the Gators closed their regular season with a 3-0 loss to United Athletic Association (UAA) member Carnegie Mellon on Saturday afternoon at Skibo Gymnasium.
Samuel ends the week averaging 3.50 kills per set over a two-game period, hitting .341 in matches against Wooster and Carnegie Mellon. Against the Tartans, sophomore

Sarah Swartz recorded five kills on 17 swings, hitting .235 while also blocking an attack attempt from Carnegie Mellon. Junior libero
Catherine Kasianowicz posted a team-high 11 digs, pushing her season total to 448, 10 digs behind her 2012 total of 458.
Down four points early in the first set, the Gators came back from a 10-6 deficit with a 5-1 run to cut the Carnegie Mellon lead to 12-11. However, the Tartans responded by going on a 10-4 run, taking a 22-15 run and ultimately winning the set, 25-17.
Carnegie Mellon would take advantage of 10 Allegheny receiving errors in the match, winning the second set, 25-13 and completing the sweep by hitting .412 in the third set, a 25-7 decision favoring the Tartans.
The Gators now shift their focus to the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) tournament, where they will take on tournament No. 1 seed Wittenberg on Friday, Nov. 8 at 7 p.m.
