GREENCASTLE, Ind.  –
Devone McLeod cut through the Tiger defense to convert a lay-up with 40 seconds left in overtime as Allegheny knocked off DePauw, 69-67, on Friday at Neal Fieldhouse. Ryan Stanko, who led a blistering offensive effort in the first half, sank a jumper in the lane on the previous possession that tied the game and set up the game-winning score.

Ahead by 11 with nine minutes left in regulation, the Gators were fortunate to force the extra time after DePauw orchestrated a strong finish that resulted in the home team leading, 65-60, with 1:32 left on the clock. Sophomore Josh Valentic drilled a contested three from the left wing to slice the deficit to two, while the Tigers missed three consecutive shots at the charity stripe in the final minute.

Junior forward Clark Tritto tied the game with a pair of free throws on Allegheny's final possession, while a three by Conor Rich from the top of the arc clanged of the back iron at the buzzer.

Stanko scored 16 of his team-high 18 points with a torrid shooting effort in the first 20 minutes, and finished the night 7-of-11 from the floor in addition to a team-best seven rebounds. McLeod added 16 points and four assists, while Valentic chipped in 11.

The Gators shot 54.2% for the game, including 12-of-22 from three-point range, but were plagued by turnovers in the second half. Turning the ball over just four times during the opening period, Allegheny attempted just 16 shots (8-of-16) following the re-start while coughing it up 11 times.

DePauw was a staggering 17-of-26 (65.4%) from the field in the first half, but the Gators tightened up defensively after the break, holding the Tigers to just 31% shooting the rest of the way, including 0-of-6 in overtime. The defensive effort helped to off-set DePauw's 34-23 advantage on the boards.

There were seven ties in the first half, while back-to-back three's by Clark Tritto and Valentic pushed Allegheny in front, 40-34, with two minutes left in the frame. The Tigers scored five straight points to close the period, although the Gators maintained a one-point lead heading into the re-start.

Valentic and Kyle Murphy fueled a 12-2 run midway through the second half as Allegheny opened up a 57-46 advantage, although turnovers on five straight possessions sparked a 19-3 run for the Tigers that triggered a 16-point swing and set up the game's tight finish.

Playing in Greencastle for the first time in program history, the victory marked Allegheny's first-ever victory against DePauw.
