Women's Volleyball Drops First Round NCAC Matchup Against DePauw

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – The Allegheny women's basketball team dropped their first-round matchup of the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) tournament, 3-0, to DePauw Friday night at Pam Smith Arena on the campus of Wittenberg University.

The Gators (7-24 overall, 2-6 NCAC) were paced by freshman outside hitter Stormie Hockenberry, who finished the match with six kills, hitting .286 in the match.  Sophomore libero Catherine Kasianowicz led the team with 14 digs as junior setter Madie Hudac scored 14 assists.

Tied at 7-7 in the first set, the Gators were unable to stop a 16-3 run by the Tigers (24-5 overall, 7-1 NCAC), who took the first set, 25-10.   Allegheny held a 7-5 lead in the second set before DePauw went on another big run, going up 2-0 with a 25-15 second set decision.  The Tigers would put the cap on the sweep with a 25-9 third set win.

The Gators will face No. 6-seeded Ohio Wesleyan at 10 a.m. in the second round of the tournament.  The Gators will either play No. 8 Oberlin or No. 4 Denison at 3:30 p.m. to close out their tournament schedule.
