Box Score for Case Western Match
Alliance, Ohio - The Allegheny women's volleyball team (0-2) were hoping to get off to a fast start, unfortunatley they ran into a pair of buzz saw's, as they would drop the first two games of the season to Geneva College (18-25, 12-25, 14-25) and Case Western Reserve (17-25, 17-25, 19-25) on Friday night.
The Gators struggled in their opening match of the season, but would play much better in the nightcap, putting up a good fight against a Case Western team that made it to the NCAA tournament just one year ago.
"We are still on the young side, trying to find our game," said head coach
Bridget Sheehan. "We played much better in the second game, our offense started firing up, we played real good defense and started doing some good things in the second game against a very good team."
Sophomore
Saige Foster led Allegheny with 14 kills on the day, and senior
Winnie Wong chipped in with a team high 19 digs. Fellow senior Audra Batdroff had a very solid outing in the second game against Case Western, as she totaled five digs and two blocks, to go along with four kills. Sophomore setter
Madie Hudac was also a bright spot for the Gators as she tallied 39 set assists on the day; 15 in the first match against Geneva, and 24 in the second game against Case Western.
The Gators will look to bounce back tomorrow, as they play a pair on the final day of the Mount Union tournament. Their first match will see Allegheny go up against Saint Mary's College at 10 am, and their last match of the day will pit them against host Mount Union at 4:00 pm.
