The match against John Carroll (12-4) was a back and forth affair throughout needed a decisive fifth set to determine the winner. Each team alternated set victories through the first four sets with set one going to John Carroll and the Blue Streaks were able to continue the trend winning the fifth set 15-7. John Carroll had not lost a set in the tournament before the Gators took the second set 25-20.
Jordan Leopold blasted a season high 19 kills against John Carroll and added four blocks on defense. Helping Leopold's season high mark was Madie Hudac providing the sets as she came up one shy of her career high in assists dishing out 51 throughout the match. Hudac also picked up 11 digs giving her the first of two double-doubles on the day. Winnie Wong was solid on defense for the Blue and Gold as she posted a season-high 30 digs.
The Gators built on the momentum and solid play in their second match against Carnegie Mellon as they took the first set 25-23, but were unable to sustain that result as they dropped the next three sets to lose the match 3-1. Hudac completed her pair of double-doubles serving out 32 assists and 11 digs in the match.
The Gators will grace the friendly confines of the Wise Center for the first time this season as they play host to Grove City Wednesday, September 22nd at 7pm.
