Allegheny’s Win-Streak Snapped at Denison

Box Score

GRANVILLE, Ohio
– Denison's Bob Casarona and Ryan Torgersen teamed up twice in the first half as the Big Red (8-5-0, 3-1-0 NCAC) ended the Gators' (7-6-3, 3-2-1 NCAC) previous three-game conference winning streak in a 2-1 loss in Granville, Ohio.
The initial score came in the 28th as Casarona chipped the ball into the box and Torgersen volleyed hit touch into the upper 90 past Gators' keeper John Lichina. The two found each other with similar results ten minutes later. Casarona sent a cross into the box and Torgersen was there to give the Big Red an early 2-0 advantage.
The Gators would close the gap in the second half as sophomore Travis Tasker chested down a cross played by sophomore Joe Caruso and ripped a shot past the diving Matt Wagner of Denison to put Allegheny on the board. The goal was Tasker's third of the season and his second in consecutive games.
Denison controlled much of the offensive action getting off 12 shots to the Gators' three in the first half. Down 2-0 in the second half, the Gators were able to generate chances as they created eight shots in the period, but Allegheny was only able to test Big Red keeper Wagner four times.
The Gators will return home for their final regular season home game of the year Saturday, October 23rd as they welcome in Wittenberg University at 5:00 pm. Six seniors will be recognized on Senior Day. You can follow the action live by checking out the live stats link: http://www.sidearmstats.com/allegheny/msoc/index.htm
