RICHMOND, Ind. -- George Raftis and Donte Briscoe finished with double-doubles to lead the Allegheny men's basketball team past Earlham, 79-58, and keep the Gators unbeaten in North Coast Athletic Conference play.

In what was a game of runs, Raftis had 16 points and 13 rebounds while Briscoe compiled 10 points, 13 rebounds, four steals and two blocks. Charlie Jaicks added 12 points and career-highs in rebounds (8) and assists (7). Seth Eisner put in 10 points.

Allegheny (6-5, 3-0) went on the first significant run, scoring 11 consecutive points in the first half to take a 17-9 lead. Eisner and Pete Jones nailed back-to-back 3-pointers and then Briscoe scored six consecutive points.

The Quakers fought back and closed the deficit to one point, trailing 23-22, before the Gators went on another run -- this one being for seven straight points. Jaicks made a layup, Jones buried two free throws and Craig Devinney capped the stretch with a trey, giving Allegheny a 30-22 lead.

Earlham (3-9, 1-2) answered with the next eight points, ending with Matt Marsh's layup, which tied the score at 30-all with 2:25 remaining in the first half. At that point, the Gators went on the game's decisive run by bridging a 17-0 run across both halves. The visitors took a 37-30 lead into intermission and then augmented the advantage with 10 straight points to start the second.

Jaicks and Raftis led the charge with six and four points, respectively, during the run, which left the Gators with a 47-30 advantage with 16:59 left in the contest.

Earlham pulled within seven points at 52-45 when Ryan Taylor knocked down a 3-pointer with 10:51 left. The Gators promptly responded with a 15-1 stretch -- led by Raftis (six) and Briscoe (four) -- which gave them a 69-48 lead with 5:20 to go.

A.J. Sutherlin was the Quakers' leading scorer, finishing with 15 points, while Marsh put in 13. Marty Broderick grabbed nine rebounds.

With his 13 boards, Raftis increased his career total to 634 and moved into fifth all-time on the Gators' career list. He passed Brian Stadnik (1983-87), who had 627 in his career, and now trails the fourth-most rebounder, David Contardi (1977-81), who had 635.

With one 3-pointer, Devinney moved into a tie for seventh all-time with Jake Delsandro (1999-03) at 123 threes. He was previously tied with Nick Catanzarite (1996-00) at 122.

The Gators will be in action again on Saturday when they visit Wabash for a 2 p.m. start.
