BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- Led by
Chris Marker's 65th-place finish, the Allegheny men's cross country team placed 20th among 42 teams in the Paul Short Run Gold Race. Marker ran the eight-kilometer course in 24:42 and the Gators accumulated 386 team points.
Allegheny's No. 2 runner was
Zac Ross, who finished 109th in 25:01.
Tony Dipre and
Jeramie Parker clocked in at 25:03 and placed 113th and 114th, respectively, while
Jake Zimmerman took 198th in 25:30.
Pat McLaughlin was the Gators' sixth-best runner, crossing the line 217th in 25:34.
Allegheny scored better than several strong cross country teams in all three NCAA tiers. The Gators finished higher than fellow D-III schools Dickinson (No. 9), Saint Lawrence (No. 12), Haverford (No. 25) and Plattsburgh (No. 27).
Allegheny also placed ahead of Shippensburg, which is ranked 20th in D-II; Lock Haven, 15th in D-II; and several D-I teams.
The Gators will compete again on Oct. 17 in the Inter-Regional Rumble at Oberlin.
