PAC Release
TRAFFORD, Pa. -- Allegheny College's
JP Rakis (Kensington, Md./Walter Johnson) and
Nathan Wheeler (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) were both recognized by the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) after leading the men's lacrosse team to a pair of lopsided conference wins last week.
Rakis was tabbed the PAC Offensive Player of the Week after amassing a team-high 21 points (7g-14a), while Wheeler was crowned the Newcomer of the Week as Allegheny's leading scorer with nine goals.
In a 21-4 victory at Thiel College, Rakis tied his season high with six goals as part of a 12-point performance. All six goals came in the first half against the Tomcats, including a natural hat trick that bridged the first and second quarters. During Saturday's 19-3 Senior Day win over Washington and Jefferson College, the fourth-year attackman scored once with a game-high eight assists and a season-high eight ground balls.
Wheeler posted a combined 11 points (9g-2a) with eight ground balls and two caused turnovers against the Tomcats and Presidents. His five goals and seven points at Thiel were both single-game season-bests for the first-year attacker. He then potted four goals, including an extra-man tally, to help fuel the offense against W&J.
The Gators will look to extend their conference win streak to three in a row on Wednesday, April 15, at 7 p.m. against Franciscan University.
