Men’s Lacrosse Falls in PAC Quarterfinals

LATROBE, Pa. – The Allegheny men's lacrosse team fell in the quarterfinals of the 2026 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship Tournament on the road at Saint Vincent Saturday (April 25), 16-4.
 
The Bearcats jumped out to an early lead as they outscored the Gators 4-0 in the opening 15 minutes. 
 
Allegheny got on the board first in the second. In a man-up situation, Liam Kruck (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin) scored off a feed by JP Rakis (Kensington, Md./Walter Johnson), cutting the deficit to three goals. Saint Vincent added two more goals before Gabe Shoemaker (Brunswick, Maine/Brunswick) scored off an assist by Griffin Cates (Arlington Heights, Ill./John Hersey). The Bearcats scored the final goal of the half as they led 7-2 at the break.
 
The second half opened with a pair of Allegheny goals. Cates scored the first man-up off a pass by Jack Pearl (Ladera Ranch, Calif./JSerra Catholic). Nathan Wheeler (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) then found the back of the net two minutes later off an assist by Rakis. However, the Bearcats ended the third on a 5-0 run to take a 12-4 lead into the fourth.
 
Saint Vincent kept the Gators off the board in the fourth while adding four more goals as Allegheny's season ended in the PAC Quarterfinals.
 
Inside the Box
  • Rakis assisted on a pair of goals while collecting four groundballs.
  • Cates had a goal and an assist.
  • Kruck found the back of the net while causing two turnovers and picking up a pair of groundballs.
  • Wheeler scored a goal while Pearl had an assist.
  • In addition to his goal, Shoemaker went 10-of-13 on faceoffs with eight groundballs.
  • Garin Stearns (Hudson, Ohio/Revere) finished the game with 17 saves. 
News and Notes
  • Allegheny is now 2-5 all-time against Saint Vincent.
  • Rakis finishes his Allegheny career as the program leader in points (279), goals (131) and assists (148).
  • Stearns will graduate as the program leader in saves (623).
