Gator Give Day Website
MEADVILLE, Pa. -- Allegheny College will be "All In" on April 17.
Allegheny will celebrate its 11th annual Gator Give Day, the College's traditional day of giving, on Thursday, April 17. Gator Give Day provides an opportunity for alums, friends, and family to come together to pave the way for future students to explore paths, discover callings, and write their own stories.
This year's Gator Give Day coincides with "In For Allegheny: Our Pathway Forward," the College's largest capital campaign ever. In For Allegheny was launched in October to support and achieve the goals of the Strategic Pathway, a roadmap into the future to guide and ensure that the College and its graduates have a positive effect on their communities, the workplace, and the world around them. More than two-thirds of the campaign's $250 million goal has been raised to date.
Last spring, the Department of Athletics and Allegheny's varsity sports teams collected over $338,000, the largest total in Gator Give Day history. More than 700 alumni donations were designated for athletics, equaling more than one-third of all alumni donations collected. These gifts supported various team and department needs, including travel expenses, new uniforms, equipment upgrades, and facility enhancements.
Aligned with the "All In" motto, the goals for Gator Give Day 2025 are more ambitious than ever before. As a whole, the College is targeting 2,025 donors to honor this year's graduating class. For every 405 honors, Allegheny will unlock an additional $100,000 for a total of $500,000 from current and emeritus members of the Board of Trustees.
Back for this year are the Baird Challenges, sponsored by Kevin and Lisa Baird '84, who have generously pledged $20,000 to continue their tradition of philanthropic competition between varsity teams. The challenges are based on two metrics: the combined number of alumni and student donations and the number of friends and family donors. Three $5,000 prizes will be awarded to the top teams based on alumni and student donations. An additional $5,000 prize will be given to the team with the most donations from employees, community members, parents, and extended family.
Several Gator alums have sponsored team-specific matches and challenges. John '78 and Jamie Sansone '79 Sutphen will provide $5,000 to both women's basketball and women's soccer if each team reaches its goal of 40 alumni donors.
Abby Sorensen '12 and an anonymous Gator will match $20 per donor to the golf program, up to $1,000.
Individuals interested in sponsoring a match or challenge for a specific team are encouraged to reach out to Sara Pineo, Senior Director of Annual Giving and Alumni Engagement, at spineo@allegheny.edu before April 16.
