TRAFFORD, Pa. -- After a runner-up finish a year ago, the Allegheny College men's lacrosse team ended in a two-way tie for fourth place in the 2025 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Preseason Coaches' Poll.
Allegheny and Westminster College received 43 points in the poll, just six less than Chatham University and Saint Vincent. The Cougars and Bearcats tied for second place with 49 points. Grove City College, the five-time defending PAC champions, earned a maximum of eight first-place votes and 64 points.
In 2024, the Gators went 7-1 against conference opponents in the regular season. Their only loss was against the eventual champions from Grove City. In the PAC semifinals, Allegheny took down Saint Vincent, 16-12, in its first-ever home playoff game, punching its ticket to the title game against the Wolverines.
Five Gators were included on the PAC's Players to Watch list ahead of the 2025 campaign. The quintet is led by third-year attackman
JP Rakis (Kensington, Md./Walter Johnson), who was All-PAC First Team following a 70-point (43g-17) performance last spring. All-PAC Honorable Mentions
Anthony DeMarco (Olmsted Falls, Ohio/Olmsted Falls) and
Konrad Homiak (Hampstead, N.C./Topsail) were also included along with senior attacker
Jack Cushwa (Martinsburg, W.Va./Martinsburg) and junior
Liam Kruck (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin).
Allegheny heads to Alliance, Ohio, for its 2025 opener against the University of Mount Union on Wednesday, February 19, at 7:00 p.m.
