YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The Allegheny College women's track and field team posted several personal records at the season-opening YSU Icebreaker, hosted by Youngstown State University at the Watson and Tressel Training Site on Friday.
All six mid-distance and distance runners who competed in the 3,000- and 5,000-meter races finished with new PRs.
In the 3K, junior
Shyann Rulander (Warren, Pa./Warren) cracked the 11-minute mark for the first time in her career. She placed 11th out of 34 total runners and was the second-best Division III athlete with a time of 10:59.18.
Gabriella Palmer (Ligonier, Pa./Ligonier Valley) paced a trio of Gators in the 5,000-meter race. The first-year distance runner made her collegiate track debut by finishing 21st out of 30 with a time of 19:43.07. She was a little more than 14 seconds ahead of teammate
Sophia Shiroff (Denver, Colo./Denver East) in 25th place. Shiroff was more than 17 seconds faster than her previous PR from last year's Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Indoor Championships.
In the sprints, senior
Renee Tetlow (Geneva, Ohio/Geneva) logged an indoor PR in the 200-meter dash at 28.44 seconds. She also led the team in the 400-meter dash with a 26th-place performance at 1:01.04.
