Bouthet Earns CSC Academic All-America Recognition

CSC Release

AUSTIN, Texas --
The first All-American in Allegheny College men's lacrosse history. The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Male Athlete of the Year. The Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Defensive Player of the Year.

And now, an Academic All-American.

Recent Allegheny College graduate Cassady Bouthet (Vernon, Conn./Rockville) was rewarded once again for his equally impressive performances on the field and in the classroom. Bouthet was named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America Men's At-Large Third Team on Wednesday afternoon, another impressive distinction following a record-setting season for the Gators' men's lacrosse team.

Bouthet joins volleyball libero Jacy Diaz (Barranquitas, Puerto Rico/Gallatin (Tenn.)) as the second Allegheny student-athlete to earn CSC Academic All-America honors during the 2023-24 academic year. It marks the first time since 2010-11 that multiple Gators were recognized in the same year.

On the field, Bouthet, a close defenseman, terrorized opposing offenses all spring. He ended the season with a team-record 52 caused turnovers and a career-high 96 ground balls, the second-most in a season by a Gator. He ranked 12th nationally and first in the conference with 3.12 caused turnovers per game. Led by Bouthet, Allegheny finished among national leaders in numerous categories, ranking ninth in ground balls per game, 14th in opponent clear percentage, and 16th in caused turnovers per game. That helped the Gators earn a program-record 10 wins in 2024, including their first-ever postseason victory in the PAC semifinals. Bouthet, who started all but one of 56 games played at Allegheny, graduated with all-time records for the most career ground balls (246) and caused turnovers (122).

An Economics major, Bouthet was a two-time PAC Spring Academic Honor Roll selection and was included on the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Academic Honor Roll in 2021-22. He was previously inducted into the Allegheny chapter of Chi Alpha Sigma, the National College Athlete Honor Society.
