GCAA Release
BOULDER CITY, Nev. -- Allegheny College junior
Carter Hassenplug (North East, Pa./North East) was named to the NCAA Division III PING All-Region III Team for the second consecutive season, as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).
Hassenplug was one of 15 student-athletes from Region III recognized this season. He's the first Gator to earn repeat All-Region accolades since Jimmy Lasher '16 in 2014-15 and 2015-16.
A two-time Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Player of the Year and championship medalist, Hassenplug recently concluded the 2023-24 campaign at the 2024 NCAA Division III Championships in the Las Vegas suburb of Boulder City. The third-year linksman carded a two-round score of 146 (+2) and missed the cut to advance to the championship rounds as an individual by only two strokes. He fired an even-par 72 with five birdies on Tuesday at the Legacy Golf Club in nearby Henderson, Nevada, and was 2-over with a 74 at the Boulder Creek Golf Club on Wednesday.
Not only did Hassenplug lead the Gators to the 2023-24 PAC Championship and a berth in the NCAA tournament, but he also set a new program record on the greens. His season average of 72.4 beat the previous record of 72.8, set by Lasher as a senior in 2015-16.
