HERSHEY, Pa. --
Every member of the Allegheny College men's golf team made improvements on Monday and helped the Gators climb the leaderboard at the 2024 Hershey Cup, hosted by the University of Rochester at the Hershey Country Club's East Course on Sunday and Monday.

Allegheny sat in 11th after the opening round on Sunday, but jumped two places to finish ninth out of 16 teams following a series of strong performances in the final round. The Gators recorded a two-day cumulative score of 618 (+50), but their 299 (+15) on Monday was one of only three sub-300 rounds in the entire tournament. Only first-place and No. 16-ranked Wittenberg University (298) and second-place U of R (293), ranked No. 24 in the latest Bushnell/Golfweek D-III Coaches Poll, had better rounds.

For the second week in a row, Nadir Khan (Karachi, Pakistan/Karachi Grammar School) finished in the top five. He was only 1-over with four birdies on Monday. That allowed him to climb five spots and tie for second place with Franklin and Marshall College's Shane Lawler. Both Khan and Lawler carded a two-round total of 146 (+2), just two strokes behind the individual medalist from Wittenberg.

Allegheny's biggest mover was Carter Hassenplug (North East, Pa./North East). The junior was 5-over on Sunday but rebounded with a 1-over 72 on Monday. Three of his four birdies in the second round came on the front nine, including both front-nine par 5s on the first and sixth holes. Hassenplug jumped a dozen spots up the leaderboard and tied for sixth with a 148 (+6).

Playing as an individual, Bergas Anargya (Jakarta, Indonesia/Binus School Simprug) moved up six places to tie for 12th out of 87 total golfers. He played a very clean second round with 15 pars. Zachary Melzar (Sterling, Mass./Wachusett Regional) also made a significant move up the standings with a second-round 75 (+4) and tied for 33rd place.
