Melzar Paces Gators at Win Palmer Cup

SEWICKLEY, Pa. –
The Allegheny men's golf team participated in the Win Palmer Cup at the Allegheny Country Club in Sewickley, Pa. Monday and Tuesday (April 15-16).
 
The Gators finished fifth in the six-team field with a score of 595. Host Wittenberg, ranked nationally in the top-25, won the event with a two-round score of 553.
 
Zachary Melzar (Sterling, Mass./Wachuesett Regional) carded the best finish for the Gators. He shot identical scores of 71 in each round to finish at 142, tying for seventh.
 
Carter Hassenplug (North East, Pa./North East) was second on the team, taking 10th. After shooting a 76 in round one, he shaved off seven strokes in the second round.
 
Nadir Khan (Karachi, Pakistan/Karachi Grammar School) was third on the team, tying for 20th with a score of 153 while Faaris Cheema (Dubai, UAE/Kings School Al Barsha) was not far behind, tied for 24th with a score of 155.
 
Bergas Anargya (Jakarta, Indonesia/Binus Simprug) shot a 158, tying for 31st and Connor Bell (Montrose, Colo./Montrose) was in 33rd with a 159 to round out the Gator golfers.

The Gators will play in the spring portion of the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championships April 19-20 in Boardman, Ohio at the Mill Creek South course. After the fall round, the Gators currently sit in second, one stroke behind leader Washington and Jefferson.
