POWELL, Ohio -- A quintet of runners from the Allegheny College men's cross country team competed in the 2024 Ohio Wesleyan Invitational, hosted by the Battling Bishops on Friday at Liberty Park in Powell, Ohio.
The Gators finished the evening race in 17th place out of 22 in a deep field with a handful of Division II and NAIA programs.
For the third time in as many races to start the fall season, junior
Caleb Freeman (Killingworth, Conn./Haddam-Killingworth) paced Allegheny to the finish line. Out of 246 total runners, Freeman came in 31st place in the team's first eight-kilometer event of the year with a time of 26:52.3.
Senior
Xavier Grove (Pittsburgh, Pa./CAPA) was the next Gator to complete the 8K course and narrowly missed out on a top-50 finish. Grove was clocked at 27:18.4 and placed 55th overall. He was less than 19 seconds off his personal-record pace.
