PAC Release
TRAFFORD, Pa. -- For the second time in as many weeks, the Allegheny College men's golf team swept the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) weekly awards.
Carter Hassenplug (North East, Pa./North East) was named the PAC Player of the Week for the second time this fall, while
Dylan Kochis (Saint Augustine, Fla./B. Reed Henderson (Pa.)) earned Newcomer of the Week honors for the second consecutive week.
The awards come following a strong performance at the Northeast Elite Invitational, an event co-hosted by Penn State Altoona and the Pennsylvania College of Technology at the Williamsport Country Club.
In the second round on Sunday, Hassenplug played the best round of his collegiate career. Not only was his 5-under 66 his lowest round as a Gator, but he joined exclusive company as one of only eight Allegheny golfers to card a round of 66 or lower. Hassenplug's 36-hole score of 139 (-3) tied his best two-round score and ranks fifth-best in program history. The senior finished the tournament with 10 birdies, tied for the most out of 104 golfers at the event.
Kochis logged rounds of 75 and 79 for a cumulative 154 (+12), and the junior was one of five tied for 74th place. He birdied three holes during each round. On Sunday, he finished with a birdie on all three par 5s on the sixth, 16th, and 18th.
Allegheny returns to the links this weekend when the Gators travel to the Waynesboro Country Club in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, for the Mason-Dixon Collegiate Classic.
