USTFCCCA Release

NEW ORLEANS -- Allegheny College men's track and field was represented by two student-athletes on the 2023 NCAA Division III All-Great Lakes Region Team, as announced on Friday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

For the third year in a row, Jacob Boord (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) received All-Region accolades in the javelin throw. In addition, Stephen Cullinan (Bel Air, Md./Bel Air) earned his first-ever regional award in the decathlon.

Boord was the top regional performer in the javelin for the second consecutive season and is heading to the NCAA Division III Championships for a second time. The third-year thrower broke the Allegheny record in the event numerous times in 2023. He recorded his best throw at Ohio State's Jesse Owens Classic, where he reached 64.76 meters. Boord won five of the seven meets he entered this spring, highlighted by his third consecutive conference title at the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Outdoor Championships.

Another record-breaker for the Gators, Cullinan, capped off the regular season with a new Allegheny record in the decathlon. He collected 6,331 points at the University of Mount Union's Last Chance Meet on Wednesday and Thursday, the second-best score in the Great Lakes. Cullinan surpassed a mark previously held by Jim Mormino '98, who amassed 6,251 points en route to a ninth-place finish at the 1998 NCAA Championships.

To earn All-Region honors, an athlete must be one of the top-5 individuals in their event in their respective region on the TFRRS Descending Order List. In addition, each member of a top-3 relay team was selected for the distinction.
