MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The Allegheny College women's track and field team earned six wins at its annual home meet, the Marty Goldberg Gator Invitational, held at the Robertson Athletic Complex on a warm and sunny Thursday afternoon.
The Gators celebrated the conclusion of finals by placing first in the 400-meter dash, the 5,000- and 10,000-meter distance races, the 3,000-meter steeplechase, and the javelin. Allegheny's "A" group also won the 4x400-meter relay, which was only contested between two Gator quartets.
Senior sprinter
Mihaela Toader (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) won the 400-meter dash and established two new outdoor personal records. In the 100-meter prelims, she cut three-hundredths of a second off of her previous PR with a time of 12.28. The runner-up in the 200-meter dash, Toader was 13-hundredths of a second quicker than her time from the 2023 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championships at 24.82 seconds.
Fellow senior
Leuca Hanish (Baden, Pa./Ambridge) completed her 5,000-meter run in 19:02.21, more than 42 seconds better than the runner-up from Alfred University. The only athlete to finish the 10,000-meter distance race,
Megan Aaron (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) completed 25 laps around Frank B. Fuhrer Field in 37:42.25.
Allegheny made up two-thirds of the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Sophomore
Marrin Crist (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg Area) was the first to the finish line, marking the second time this season she's been victorious in the event. Crist (12:50.24) did so with a 19.60-second advantage over her Gator teammate,
Rachel Walters (Mt. Lebanon, Pa./Mt. Lebanon).
Newcomer
Elizabeth Lubold (Indiana, Pa./Indiana Area) continued to make a splash in the javelin. The three-sport student-athlete picked up her second win of the spring with another PR distance at 39.59 meters. Lubold bested the 2022 PAC javelin champion, Westminster College's Erynn Daubenmire, by 1.80 meters with a throw that ranks among the top 30 in the country.
