WAYNESBORO, Pa. --
Allegheny College men's golf posted two solid rounds and finished eighth overall at the Mason-Dixon Collegiate Classic at the Waynesboro Country Club over the weekend.

The field at the Mason-Dixon Collegiate Classic featured 19 teams and 93 total golfers, including No. 19 nationally-ranked McDaniel College, plus five of the top seven teams from last spring's Region III rankings. That included Franklin and Marshall College and Gettysburg College, who both received votes in the latest Bushnell/Golfweek Division III Coaches Poll.

Although the 19th-ranked Green Terror beat Allegheny by 13 strokes at the 50th Guy and Jeanne Kuhn Memorial Invitational, the Gators finished four spots ahead of McDaniel at Waynesboro. Allegheny carded rounds of 302 and 300 as a team to finish with a 26-over par 602. McDaniel's "A" team placed 12th with a 34-over 610.

Carter Hassenplug (North East, Pa./North East) and Bergas Anargya (Jakarta, Indonesia/Binus School Simprug) both secured top-25 finishes to lead Allegheny. Hassenplug was in a seven-way tie for 15th place with a 4-over 148. He eagled the par-5 eighth and 14th holes during Saturday's opening round but scored better on Sunday with a 1-over 73. Anargya tied for 22nd place with a 5-over 149. He recorded eight birdies across both rounds and on each day, he birdied the par-5 first and par-4 15th holes.

Zachary Melzar (Sterling, Mass./Wachusett Regional) was two strokes behind Anargya, as he tied for 30th place with a 7-over 151. During both rounds, Melzar performed better on the front nine, as he was even on Saturday and only 1-over on the first nine holes on Sunday.

With identical scores of 77, Nadir Khan (Karachi, Pakistan/Karachi Grammar School) logged a 10-over 154. Connor Bell (Montrose, Colo./Montrose) rounded out Allegheny's five participants with a 159 (+15).
