LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Allegheny sophomore
Dillon D'Amato (Tolland, Conn./Tolland) became the first Gator to earn a spot on the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Division III Team of the Week for his performance in a pair of wins last week.
D'Amato became the first Allegheny men's lacrosse player to garner the national accolade after helping lead the Gators to a 2-0 week and the first two North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) victories in program history. In a pair of wins against Hiram, D'Amato totaled 10 caused turnovers and 10 ground balls while anchoring a defense that yielded just six goals and 11 shots on goal. On Wednesday evening, the team captain recorded six caused turnovers and six ground balls as the Gators defeated the Terriers 20-2, before he notched four of each statistic in Saturday's 23-4 triumph.
D'Amato and his teammates will be back in action on Wednesday, April 21 when they travel to Gambier, Ohio for the Gators' first-ever meeting with Kenyon. Face-off is set for 4:00 p.m.
