Box Score CRESSON, Pa. -- The Allegheny women's basketball team took to the road Monday (Nov.28), defeating Mount Aloysius 92-64 in nonconference action.
The Gator offense got out of the gates fast, quickly gaining a 12-2 lead in the opening three minutes of the game. In the opening frame, the Gators shot 60 percent from the field (9-for-16) as they led Mounties 22-18 after 10 minutes.
Allegheny continued to shoot well in the second quarter, going 10-for-20 from the field while holding Mount Aloysius to just 2-of-9. For the quarter, the Gators outscored the Mounties 21-14 as their advantage ballooned to 43-32 at the half.
After the Mounties scored the first baskets of the second half, the Gators rattled off a 14-0 run, with four points from
Emily Lauer (Keystone, Pa./Knox) and
Chloe Rabold (Baden, Pa./Ambridge) in that span, to increase their lead to 57-36.
Ahead 68-48 going into the final frame, the Gators lead increased to as many as 31 points as they secured the nonconference win.
Lauer scored a game-high 19 points, her sixth time in double figures in the last seven games. She also tied for the game high with four steals, and added four rebounds. Three other Gators reached double digits in points as
Breanna Warner (Hopewell, Pa./Sewickley Academy) scored 14, Rabold had 12 and
Branygan Bianchin (Wexford, Pa./North Catholic) tallied 11 points.
Jenna Manke (Freeport, Pa./Freeport) pulled in a team-best six rebounds and
Sydney Cook (New Brighton, Pa./New Brighton) matched Lauer with four steals and handed out a game-high four assists.
The Gators open up North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) play Wednesday (Dec. 1) when they travel to Hiram. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 pm.
